Beginning of My Journey in Learning Japanese

I have always loved watching Japanese animes ever since I was a kid. Japanese mangas/animes are so nicely plotted, fun and perfectly drawn, it blows my mind. They are really high up there in terms of quality among all of the animations in the world in my opinion. Besides the animes I have watched that are still influencing my life today, I always enjoyed Japanese dramas and even its pop culture. And for sure, I love the food and the culture. Everything's fascinating. I figure it's about time I officially start learning Japanese, so that after hearing all those Japanese throughout my life, I can have a clear understanding of what all the syllables meant.

The first two classes have been really fun. I am considering this class as my pastime and joy and am looking forward to learning more and more about Japanese. :]

  1. I love Japanese animes and food too. Big fan of Miyazaki Hayao. His animes are very educational, always make me cry.

    Nice to meet you!
Is this the first year you are taking Japanese?

I know exactly what you mean when you talk about your fascination with the culture. I was actually not that exposed to Japanese culture and history before my time here at Columbia.

I moved here from Israel three years ago and only at school I was able to explore classes and topics about East Asia and specifically Japan. A trip to Japan last summer changed my schedule for the semester and made me sign up for Japanese!

How is the class going so far? Are you planning a trip to Japan anytime soon?

    Best,
    Adam
